How We Make Our Drinks
- Since Asha is first and foremost a tea house, we happen to know a thing or two about tea. Every artisan tea on our Tea Bar Menu was thoughtfully curated by our founder David, who also carefully crafted the recipes of every drink on our Cafe Menu to highlight the flavors of our teas
- Our Team Members also put a lot of thought and care into everything we say and do at Asha, because providing darn good service is as important to us as making darn good tea. We constantly change our recipes and procedures based on customer feedback, and personally respond to every comment, whether in-person or online
- As for the drinks themselves--we took inspiration from tea-drinking cultures around the world and put our own twist on these beloved drinks to make them as unique as possible:
- Our artisan loose leaf teas are served in traditional tea ware that are deliberately paired to bring out the flavors of different teas, and to give our customers a more authentic and intimate tea experience
- Our smooth and rich interpretation of the Hong Kong Milk Tea has gotten a lot of love since it was featured on the cover of the East Bay Express*, and our Hong Kong Coffee Milk Tea--made with 18-hour cold brew coffee--is equally beloved
- Our matcha is hand-whisked à la 1,000-year old Japanese tradition, then poured over milk to create a beautifully-layered Matcha Latte that is still the talk of the Bay
- Our enticingly toasty Hojicha Latte was also an inspiration from Japan, and Asha might just be the first tea house outside of Japan (according to Google!) to offer it as a low-caffeine drink option
- Our Masala Chai Latte starts as a house-special blend of tea leaves and organic spices before it's simmered for hours over the stove to bring out a spicy, satisfying taste that will transport you to the streets of Bombay
- Our Fruit Tea is made using fresh, local and seasonal fruit, and is a refreshing deviation from drinks that are flavored using dried or pre-packaged fruit and fruit-flavored syrup
- And because we recognize that taste is subjective, we allow customizations for almost all of our drinks: level of sweetness, strength of tea flavor, choice of milk, and boba, grass jelly or goji berry add-ons
